Report:
4 of us cycled from Grove and it was good to see Alan back on his bike again. Despite the grey skies, it stayed dry (overhead although not always underwheel) as we headed to Eynsham via Garford, Marcham and Besselsleigh. We made sufficiently good time to justify a coffee (beer) stop at the Red Lion before heading back into the wind to Standlake. Laurent had done an excellent job on the mulled wine and being late arrivals, some of our number were forced to use the pint-sized cups

(I'm sure that was Ginny at the end of the Table rather than Alan! - They don't look that similar? - Steve S)

Riders = 6
Report:
A chilly, overcast and misty morning was followed by sunshine later as 6 of us headed north to Burford via Thrupp, Alvescot and Shilton. Excellent food at the Royal Oak. There was barely a hill before lunch but a a few lumps along the Windrush valley as we enjoyed the views en route to Minster Lovell. Back via Curbridge, Bampton and Buckland. Lots of snowdrops along the way particularly in the woods at Buckland. Despite the easy pace we made it comfortably back to the museum for tea. 53 miles.

The Kennet Valley 200K Audax
Leader:
Start Time:
8:00 am
Start Location:
Description:
Local Audax event. Registration required.
Riders:
Mavis Rose
Pat Hurt
Sue King
Riders = 3
Report:
One of those rare days when Kev looked out of the window at 6am and said no-way and went back to bed. Felt very guilty when I went to visit someone later to see Mavis bike outside the tutti-pole control in Hungerford. It had taken Mavis and Sue 3 hours to do 24 miles in the hail and high winds, and were so exhausted they stopped talking, so they then diverted to Lambourne.

Pat did the 200K in 13 hours or there abouts

Riders = 9
Report:
A chilly ride over the top of the Rideway at Betterton with the first puncture after climbing Hernehill Down. That marked the pattern of the ride - once we hit the road again just before Catmore there were 4 or 5 more punctures and the snow began to fall.

After a good 20 minutes trying to find shelter for those without punctures and some choice language for this with punctures we thought about setting off again. Then I punctured and we decided (or the weather decided for us) that we'd bail out and head for West Ilsley and back over the Ridgeway.

We met Alan on the way back and he too decided to call it a day and join us on the downhill back to Betterton.

For the guy whom I lost your details, can I only apologise - if you would like to send me your name (jon@prst1.fsnet.co.uk) I can add you to the riders list.
