A re-run of a hill workout we did during the mince pie challenge with an increasing amount of time spent climbing out of the saddle. It was tough :p.

Then, as if that wasn't enough, a memory challenge during the cool down - well done to top scorers Yvonne and Sharon.

Lisa, don't forget to remove the thimble next time you pump your tyres.

Well done Chris and everyone :D

Another really interesting evening with lots of discussion. Thanks to Robin for sharing some of his insights into Cycling UK and its strategy to get a million more people cycling. He has since told me that the feedback from our discussion proved extremely useful for the Board " virtual awayday" the following day. Excellent stuff.

An endurance boost tonight led by Lee Ann. 3 sets of 3 increasingly hard intervals, whilst holding the same cadence. Tough :p.

A music quiz too, this week won by Jon.

Well done everyone. See you next week (clap).

Another enjoyable evening's chat. Topics this week varied from the benefits of a non-breakfast diet (when not going for a long ride), updates on some of our local cafes, the joy of picnics and a sharing of thoughts about resuming club rides in early April - look out for further news soon. And a late evening tip from Peter - there is usually a profusion of daffodils to enjoy by the river in Eastleach. They weren't quite out on Tuesday, but sounds like they will be worth checking out if heading that way this weekend.

Something for everyone to help us get the most out of our riding. Do join us.

Report:
A big thank you to Jan and Kath for a most informative and interesting evening.
Jan started off, outlining her approach to route planning, starting from maps before plotting with online tools. She provided some useful hints and tips for those planning club rides and noted the wide range of routes available through the club website. Jan also shared some of the sources of inspiration she has used to plan routes when cycling away from home. None of us were surprised to hear that the multi-volume "Britain's Greatest Cycling Climbs" was a particular favourite. Both Kath and Jan highlighted the value of tapping into local knowledge, whether it is using routes published on other club's websites, Audax routes or searching for popular routes on Strava heatmaps . Kath took us through two of the online tools that she uses: Cycle-travel and Rideswithgps. The use of googleman to access Streetview directly in RIdeswithgps was new to me and will definitely be put to use.
So there certainly was something for everyone.

The final turbo session of the season, and it seemed fitting that Kath was in the garden. Spring has definitely sprung and next week we'll be back out on club rides.

Tonight's routine was a favourite - 5 sets of 5 intervals increasing in cadence and resistance - to work on strength.

More importantly, the quiz on identifying birds was won by Yvonne and Nicole - I thought it was only creepy crawlies you two were into??!!

Well done everyone, including Chris, and thanks to you all for making this such a fun and sociable 20+ weeks. It was great to have such a committed group of riders and leaders (clap).
