Report:
A moonlit evening so we took Kev T's plan B, up Manor Road and past the Youth Hostel, through the Letcombes, Childrey and Goosey to the the pub at Charney Bassett. (Plan A involved Chain Hill, so we went for Plan B!)
We had a few incidents, with Jane hitting a bank after crashing through a deep pot hole, and Richard getting a puncture. He wasn't impressed when advised not to turn his bike over as his saddle and handlebars were likely to fall out.
We were joined by Steve S at the Chequers, where the food was as good as ever, and we returned via Lyford. I made it 42km (from Wantage).

Report:
Up the hill, Down the hill, up the hill again, arrived in Lambourne damn cold as we kept waiting for Mavis to answer her phone, then up the hill to Baydon and a fine roast lunch at Wanborough. (The Harrow?).

I think the rest then swang out through Shrivenham, but I had had enough (too cold, not feeling well and too big a lunch) so I departed and crawled home.

Nice hills. ....K.F.

Report:
I can't speak for my guests but I had a great time. Thanks to you all for bringing along such delicious food and thanks to Laurent who supplied much of the wine (and instructions on how to drink it). The photocompetition for Flora and Fauna was won by Pat (and Kev F - Steve S) and the competition for most frequent rider was Kevin F. They both won stupendous prizes! Steve S obviously had much difficulty in deciding who had won the photocompetition as there were many very good entries. Steve S also provided us all with a slide show showing many reminders of rides held in the previous 12 months. My favourite was of Pat wearing a pink hat and Father Christmas earmuffs. The only person not listed on the 'rides' list is Marion (just added by Steve), Alan's wife who says she may join us when she gives up her running.

Thanks also to my nearest and dearest who prior to the party, had to vacuum the downstairs carpets, his most hated occupation.

Edith has provided the next topic for the photocompetition which is HEAVENLY BODIES. So get snapping everyone.

Report:
Up Blowingstone to Lambourne, then turned right past Ashdown House. A sweep of the vale was then planned via Uffington, but Richard fell off - Jane takes up the story:

"Just thought you may like to know how Richard has faired after his cycling accident yesterday. He has broken his nose, got two chipped teeth and had to have stitches in his upper lip. His brother, Edwin, took him to the Wantage Cottage hospital and he then had to go to the John Radcliffe for X-ray."
