Report:
This turned out to be rather Wantage-dominated DA Event. Of the 14 riders who took part, 10 were from Wantage and Pat organised the hunt.

This was certainly a hunt with a difference: 10 photographs of curiosities along the route that we had to put in order of discovery. Church windows, St.George slaying the dragon, almshouses and an goods waggon in a field were among the objects we had to espy. So we all cycled along looking everywhere but where we were going. Even so, none of us spotted the wooden log stranded 6ft up a telegraph wire in Radley (we thought it was the April Fool Clue). It was a longish route too - 27 miles via Boars Hill, Abingdon, Steventon, Hanney and Fyfield. The hunt certaintly added an extra dimension. A quick check of the route up to the closed tunnel at Fyfield was rewarded by spotting the winning clue by yours truly and Jules (all the other teams went straight along the A420). Really enjoyed it. Thanks Pat for a novel competition.

Report:
A tour of Didcot, with views of the power station from every angle as one rider commented. A 37 mile loop through the Vale via Sutton Courtenay, the Moretons, the Astons and Blewbury to Chilton for tea. Alas it started to rain on us as we climbed the hill from Upton. Fortunately, by the time we left afterwards the worst had passed.
Good to have Gareth and James out again, and Alan G. and to welcome newcomer Alice. We also saw Ron on his bike delivering census forms in Upton.

Minibus to Eastbourne with Richard thinking we would get the bus back.
Day 1 took us to Upper Beeding, where some of us booked into a different pub as the one booked wasn't open. 60 miles
Day 2 to Cocking (40 miles) where I upset the landlady of the first B&B so ended up sharing with Richard. Wantage CTC are now on the wall of fame at the Bell Inn, having consumed more than one Terminator - 8oz Rump, Gammon, Cajun Chicken, Sausages, Black Pud, Lamb Chops, Rack of Ribs, Onion Rings, Chips and a cucumber salad. Free puds for those who did it! Judgement day had arrived!
Day 3 to Winchester (53 miles) followed by really decent scoffs in the Loch Fyne Resturant - this must be added to the list of recommended stops!

31 in all! Amazing.

Fantastic turnout on a pleasant afternoon. Good to see Helen, Ron and Stephanie out again plus many new faces young and not so young, including Peter Clayton with three grandsons, Piet's wife Dita, Rob, and Judith.

A flat route via Denchworth, Charney Bassett and Gainfield to Stanford-i-t-vale then back via Park Lane.

Afterwards several of us did another lap at higher speed to use up excess energy!

Despite dark foreboding clouds, Edith managed to find a dry route.
A hillier but shorter ride for the 16 of us this week, via the Letcombes, Childrey, West Challow and Denchworth.
Very nice to see Svein again and his daughter Kari, now 4, on a tag-along. They came out with us on tuesdays three years ago.

This was a seriously good ride. Even Lou enjoyed it. North Leigh for Lunch, following a puncture at Northmoor, and onto the closed roman villa. Some gentle hills on the loop to the north of Witney and then it was fast to Aston to make the pottery for tea, finally returning about 18:00. 60 odd miles.
